The role of WebQuests in learning a foreign/second language?”

WebQuests incorporate technology with educational concepts through integrating on-line resources with student-centered, activity-based learning. A WebQuest, according to WebQuest.org, is an inquiry-oriented lesson format in which most or all the information that learners work with comes from the web. These can be created using various programs, including a simple word processing document that includes links to websites.
critical thinking; WebQuests extend the students' thinking to the higher levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation. WebQuests also support a variety of instructional and cognitive practices such as critical thinking and problem solving through authentic assessment, cooperative learning, scaffolding and technology integration. Teachers use WebQuests to encourage independent thinking and to motivate students; thus increasing learning. Finally, WebQuests can be designed to help enhance students’ technological competencies. WebQuests helps students to think while they do their assignment.
Student-oriented activities. The activities that use resources from the Web. Such as treasure hunts, webquests or all kind of projects. They are normally meaningful activities where the students use authentic information from the websites selected. WebQuest Activities; Reading various articles from the Internet, Writing scripts for a presentation or preparing a brochure, or newsletter and Participating in group discussion
Knowledge based on enquiry-oriented language use. Student can be grouped based on their language levels. Cooperative and collaborative learning. WebQuests also incorporate cooperative and collaborative learning, since students work on projects in groups. These concepts can play a role in teaching with WebQuests. In WebQuests students take on roles within a small student group and this tends to promote motivation.
Project-based learning (PBL), one of the enduring approaches to education that supports the use of webquests, is focused on the learner constructing meaning and knowledge from an assigned activity. Students are given an assigned task or questions that include the creation of a product that will illustrate or represent what they have learned.

(Reflection on the three weeks)

In the first three weeks ago, I have learned from this course many valuable things . First of all, I created many accounts like yahoo, wiki, blog and delicious. Actually, there were many advantages such as the pretty communication with my friends through these web sites, sharing experiences and gaining information. In addition, this way is very simple and interesting more than the traditional way. However, as there were advantages, also some disadvantages were noticed. One of them is the unavailability of the network sometimes in the classroom which let us unable to follow with the Dr. and interact with her for more understanding. Furthermore, the communication through the web sites was not translating the feeling and emotions which only can be done by the body language in the direct communication as in the  classroom.

How I would use blogs, wikis and delicious with my EFL students?”

How I would use blogs, wikis and delicious with my EFL students?”

Today many students are using technology in the classroom. Therefore, educators should use technology in the classroom because its wide range of uses and forms has the potential to reach students of all learning styles, as well as be more efficient. When I become a teacher I will use blog, wiki, and delicious to teach my student,,
In the future, as a teacher I should use the technology to learn my students. For example, I will use some web sites and ask them to create a count in one of them like blogger. I can use the blog to post articles or stories and ask them to write a comment on it or asking them to put some pictures and put thier own comments. Actually, This assignment will help the students to consider the importance of the writing skills and have a better understanding of blogging. Blogs give students the opportunity to reflect thier ideas, opinions and experiences.
The second web, is wikispace. In fact, Wikispaces can be used in a variety of ways to enhance teaching and learning. For example, I can give my student text and then ask them to translate it into Arabic . in another hand, I can also ask them to create  images, videos, and text. Also,  In my classroom, I want students to collaborate using authentic discussion, have pride in their work, and be supportive of their peers.
The third web, is delicious. I think this tool is very important for each student. We are all inundated daily with content to process and share via Twitter, Facebook and other social media. But Delicious, a social bookmarking site, helps you organize materials of interest by tags and descriptions. As a teacher I can give my students some web sites and ask them to make bookmarks on their own. Also, I will ask them to write a research paper by using social bookmarking tool to collect, annotate and save resources that they find on the web on even on the online databases. These bookmarks can be accessed from any computer, from home or school.

: "Application of Bax Normilasation in Saudi Arabia: The how!"

Stephan Bax argues that, "Our aim should be to attain a state of `normalisation' in which the technology is invisible and truly integrated"

This article study of the history of the CALL(Computer Assisted language learning ), in the past present and future,,Then we found the answer of the question. Where has call been?. refers to five main literature sources and divides them into two kinds: the properly researched and the interpretative.
After that, we can also notice the three types of call which are:
1-Behaviouristic
2-Communicative
3-‘Integrative.
Another important point is Structural CALL was previously called Behaviouristic
CALL whereas previously it was described as ‘‘conceived”. A another thing is,Bax called the “Behaviouristic CALL” as ‘Restricted CALL’ because it doesn’t refer only to a supposed underlying theory of learning but also to the actual software and activity types in use at the time. The second phase which is“Communicative CALL” become “Open CALL” as Bax called it. The third one is “Integrated CALL” instead of “Integrative CALL”.
Then Bax suggested how the normilasation can be acceptably. He talked about the books and the pen as tools of technology. He also said, the call will be extend when computer will used by student and teacher in classroom as tool for teaching them.  In other hand, Then he argue that they need action research in personal  environments to identify barriers to normalization and ways of overcoming them and This is will be difficult process.
I think most of the schools in saudia Arabia use computers as a tool but some of them still use the traditional way of teaching. We need to apply call in our schools but we need many process , I think it’s not easy to change our style but it is not impossible too!.We most use computers in our daily life as we use pen and book. The teacher should encourage her student to use networks and also the teacher should not use the traditional way of teaching, like board, book and pen. Today we can see some university and schools using smart board and PowerPoint which is a good point for us.  At the end I hope to improve our education by using technology instead the traditional way  ..
